Just wanted to invite those of you who have followed me here for the past few years, to join me at my new blog ' Deb's Sweet Treats '.  I will keep this blog open but just not post on it much.  I just have a strong desire to pursue my baking dream and everything else seems to be pushed to the back burner for a while.

A Dream In The Making...

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still around but keeping myself busy with my new venture.

Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to be my own boss and hoping this summer I can make it happen.  I will still keep this blog open but since my interest have change some, I have started a new blog....

Special Order for a Baseball Fan

Just wanted to share a special order that I sent out today.

At first I worried that I wouldn't be able to do it but I contacted the Kansas City Royals and they told me it was no problem. My customer was thrilled because it was a gift for her boyfriend who actually works for the team. Opening day is the 13th and its a surprise for him.

I was really tickled that they turned out as good as they did and I can't wait to hear how they go over. I already have two others asking about another team logo. lol

Cookies, Cookies Everywhere!

I can't believe its been two months since my last post but that's about how long it has been. Things have been so busy around here with the house and work. I am so looking forward to Summer vacation. The last day of school is May 17th! Yay Me!

Another reason I have been missing is that I decided to try my hand at the cookie/baking business again. I had been trying to craft for extra cash to make ends meet but just never seemed to make anything that anyone has been interested in.

Its been about a month now and so far I have been pretty busy. People seem to like my cookie bouquets and individual cookies. I guess its because they are different and nobody around this area does them.

My first bouquet was this birthday gift for the daughter of a friend at work.

It was a hit!

My next break was for a local newscaster that I had met three years ago when she did the story on the hubby and I when we were going through Foreclosure. She told me that she thought my work was fantastic and wanted to see me succeed. She ordered an bouquet for Easter and I brought her a platter of cookies to share with others that worked in the station.

I did this cute platter of Lady Bugs. I think these are one of my favorite cookie designs!

Friday I had an order for 10 bouquets for Easter. The lady was giving them as gifts to family and her children instead of Easter baskets.

The look on her face was priceless, when she saw them all in the back of my Jeep. It almost made me cry. lol

I have also been doing a few cakes for the gals at work and now thinking about getting into cupcakes and other 'sweet treats'. Its always been my dream to have my own shop and hopefully this is the beginning of it coming true.

Right now I am working on a special order for a friend I use to work with, years ago. Her boyfriend works for the Kansas City Royals and she wanted to send him something special for opening day on the 13th. I had to get permission from the Royals to do it and thankfully they gave it to me so hopefully I will get them out to him bright and early tomorrow morning.

I have read a few books by Cindy Woodsmall and I was so happy that this one followed suit and was a wonderful read. I picked it up on Friday and finished it by Sunday evening. I just couldn't put it down!

If you enjoy books on the Amish, you will love this one!

Happy New Years Eve!

Can you believe its already the last day of 2011??? Where did all the time go??? Have you set any goals for yourself for 2012???

One thing is for sure, the hubby and I have had our share of set-backs in 2011 and are hoping that 2012 holds a better future for us and all our friends.

I have been in such a slump lately that I have decided first off that I am gonna do my best to drop at least 20 pounds in 2012 and do a little bit more exercising. I told the hubby we were going to be eating a little healthier and the I think it scared him, you see... he has a very bad snacking problem. We were given a Wii as a gift this summer from my BFF and I think even if we just do that more often, it would help.

I also have plans to start a Etsy shop with my dear friend/sister, Kookie. She makes some of the most wonderful things and I can't wait to have her share them with all of you. She has been a real source of inspiration to me in the past year and I feel really blessed to have met her and gotten to know her.

So.... what about you? I would love to hear what plans you have for the upcoming year.... and I look forward to getting to know you all so much better. We are as strong as those we keep around us!

Sylvia Fisher works on the family farm and thankfully her father doesn't make her keep to the Old Order of The Amish, that the women take care of their homes and raise babies. He lets her tend and nurture the dairy herd instead and she does a wonderful job of it.

All is going well until her 'intended' demands a yes or no answer to his marriage proposal. Sylvia hesitates as she feels there is something missing, only to have hm turn to her younger sister who jumps on the chance to marry him.

Feeling betrayed, Sylvia moves to another town to help the Blanks make a go of their failing farm which is sinking in debt. All is going well until the Blank's son, Aaron who is a recovering alcoholic, returns home. Sylvia feels her position at the dairy farm is being threatened and Aaron is feeling that she is going to ruin his attempt to convince his parents to give up the farm and move to town with him.

This book is the third in the Ada House series and even though I did not read the first two, I really enjoyed it. I did find that it made me want to read the first two books to find out more of the stories behind the other characters. I think anyone who reads any of Cindy's books will not be disappointed.
